China sets up office for Internet information management

BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government announcedWednesday the setting up of an office to manage Internetinformation, said a statement from the State Council General Office.

The department, known as the State Internet Information Office,will direct, coordinate and supervise online content management andhandle administrative approval of businesses related to online newsreporting, it said.
