SA: Govt to consider expansion of airport network

The South Australian government is considering an expansion of the state's network
of regional airports.

Transport Minister DI LAIDLAW says the government will prepare a strategy for future
development work which could involve co-operative funding arrangements with the private
sector.

Ms LAIDLAW says the plan will evaluate the strengths and weakness of region airports
before funding is committed to capitalise on economic and tourism potential.

She says the government wants efficient transport links in the export chain to maximise
productivity and generate jobs in regional areas.
